Heavenly good Seikoen

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

So on Sunday, my Hubby and I were just recovering from the awesome party we had on Saturday. My Hubby said to me that he wants something light and health as we were driving to nowhere for our dinner….the next thing we knew we were stepping into a Tokyo style Korean BBQ- Seikoen in Torrance.

What the hell right? Don’t ask me. It must be the “Inception” effect!!!!!

So we set down and started ordering…1 orion, 2 beef tongue, 2 kurubi, 1 intestine, 1 something something garlic, 1 vegi…(yes 1 vegi order for the light and health dinner).

I gotta say this restaurant is so old fashion that I actually felt like I was in Japan for the whole time while eating there! The smoke air, the very local obasan serving style, the grill set, the napkin that wear around your neck…. and the cashier machine!!!! LoL.

So the food came we started cooking… first bite of the beef tongue…..OMG am I in heaven? How come there is such a wonderful taste beef tongue and it took me so long to find it. Especially, with the sauce they gave me to dip with the beef tongue made the taste even more wonderful!!!

The karubi was very soft not dry or hard to eat. And man, the intestine…. gotta say it is way way way better than the Star BBQ.

Then the vegi and garlic was also very good. (Yes, I am more into the meat than vegi… But vegi were good really.)

If you ever go there to eat, wear something that you are about to wash. It is super smoky in there! And try to there early otherwise you will have to wait a long long time….

Here are some photos of the food and place:

Niwattori

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

After I wrote my last entry, I told Kako that there were many 50% off from Momen+. We decided to go again plus she didn’t have time to use her b-day gift certificate from Momen+. I bought some fabric again because they were too cute.

Anyway after shopping all three of us were starving (yes, my hubby was with us too), we decided to try Yuzu when we walked there, it was closed again….I said again is because every time I want to try Yuzu, I always go at the wrong timing….LOL…

But next to Yuzu, there was a new restaurant called “Tokyo Essence Niwattori”
My hubby said it was good and as we were all starving to death, we went in.
The whole restaurant design were very modern and stylish. So I figured that maybe it will be expensive to eat here. Their speciality is “Chicken” most of the food on the menu were chicken… LOL… how cool is that!!

So I ordered a chicken dish which is a fried chicken with special mayonnaise sauce, I think it was something called “Chicken Nabon” but I could be wrong…(it said “Chicken Tartar” on my recepit.) Kako ordered a friend chicken (Torikaraage Negi Sau) and my hubby ordered a Beef dish (Yaki Shabu). As we were waiting for our food, I was thinking that since it is a high end looking restaurant the volume of the dish set probably is small but fancy looking….

Oh boy…. how wrong was I… the food came… it came with three side dishes, a bowl of soup and rice, and the main item. It was ginourmous!!! Especially, my hubby’s dish was more than he could handled. It was delicious!! And that was when I was almost done with my dish, I realized that I totally forgot to take some snap shoot again….. stupid me always make that mistake! And where was my camera….(at home…), so I used my terrible cell camera!

LOL… You can see my almost finished dish:

And I tried to take some fancy shoot that looks like we haven’t touch the food…. LOL.

I think since we went to their lunch hour so they were serving their lunch menu only and for those dishes we ordered, they were $13.50 for each of them which I considered it was pretty good price for the huge amount, good food, and good service!

If you happen to be around there one day, you should give a try. And hope you will like it!

Here is some information of Niwattori:
